Stock Market holiday: Will BSE, NSE remain closed or open on January 20 and 22? Special live session on this date

Mumbai: There is a confusion over whether Stock markets, including Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed on January 20 and 22, 2024. The confusion regarding January 20 has arisen as BSE and NSE will conduct two special trading sessions on coming Saturday to test their preparedness to transition their systems on to disaster recovery sites on a real-time basis. The Uttar Pradesh government has declared January 22 as a holiday for all the educational institutions across the state on the occasion of the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya. However, the stock exchanges will remain open on the day of consecration ceremony. Special sessions on BSE, NSE on January 20, 2024 The National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange will conduct two special live trading sessions on January 20, 2024. The first session will begin at 9:15 am and end at 10:00 am whereas the second session will begin at 11:30 and end at 12:30 pm. The BSE and NSE are conducting the special sessions as the stock exchabges aim to switch to the DR site through this special live sessions. Stock Market: BSE, NSE Holidays in 2024 The holidays falling on Saturday / Sunday are as follows: Stock Market Timings Trading on the stock exchanges takes place on all days of the week (except Saturdays and Sundays and holidays declared by the Exchange in advance). Pre-open session timings Order entry & modification Open: 9 am Order entry & modification Close: 9:08 am* Regular trading session Normal / Limited Physical Market Open: 09:15 am Normal / Limited Physical Market Close: 3:30 pm Closing Session The Closing Session is held between 3:40 and 4 pm.
